International Connections
Our aim is to support clients wherever they want to do business in the world, and whether they are headquartered in the UK or in any other jurisdiction.
From our initial focus on technology and telecommunications businesses, the firm has expanded its reach over the years to support clients operating internationally across a wide range of industries from manufacturing and construction to financial services and AI development.
Networking
English law remains the most widely used legal system in the context of global cross border agreements but being a practitioner of English law is only the starting point for supporting international clients. You also need an excellent network of local law practitioners to ensure compliance with local regulations.
With a good network of international lawyers from her first career in a shipping and international trade practice, supplemented by the further contacts she made as an in-house lawyer, Katherine was well positioned to start supporting international clients from the date she started the business in 2007.
Then in 2014, she was approached to join IRG, which had already built an impressive network of legal, accountancy and corporate service providers based on the principles of ethical networking and personal relationships.
International Arbitration
Many of our international clients are increasingly looking to explore arbitration options in preference to the courts to settle commercial disputes but they are also interested in arbitration associations beyond the more traditional choices of ICC and LCIA.
The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) has always been an excellent option for clients, with its high-quality commercial arbitrators experienced in arbitrating complex international disputes. Today, we are also recommending arbitration under the rules of the Abu Dhabi Global Markets Free Zone (ADGM), which is Abu Dhabi’s home of international businesses wanting to do business in UAE and across the GCC. The ADGM operates under English law and court/arbitration procedures, which makes it particularly attractive to businesses familiar with common law jurisdictional practices.
Following the expansion of the ADGM to include Al Reem Island, Mirkwood Evans Vincent is proud to announce that we will be working with Paoletti Law, a law firm established in ADGM with audience rights in the ADGM Courts, to provide a high quality, cost-effective option for international businesses wanting to resolve disputes in the region.
