Harnessing global expertise

At Mirkwood Evans Vincent, our journey began in 2007 with a clear vision: to create a law firm that specialised in supporting clients in emerging technology sectors who operate on a global scale.

From the very beginning, we recognised that businesses were no longer confined by borders. One of our founders, Katherine Evans, started her career as an international shipping and trade lawyer before moving in-house at AT&T. This experience underscored a simple but powerful truth: the future of business is international.

As a firm, we have always believed in the value of collaboration. Our global reach has been strengthened through meaningful partnerships. With access to over 1,450 members worldwide, we have trusted legal professionals around us who bring local expertise to our international clients. By working closely with lawyers who understand the nuances of their respective legal landscapes, we ensure that our clients receive seamless, high-quality support wherever they operate.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a part of global networks is the ability to share knowledge and expertise. A recent case highlighted this perfectly: a fellow lawyer approached us for advice on a client who had lost money from their crypto wallet. The company involved insisted it was not liable, relying on their terms and conditions. After reviewing the case, we provided three key legal arguments that could be used to challenge this position. A week later, the member reached out to share that our advice had been pivotal in securing a full recovery of the client’s funds. This experience reaffirmed our belief that the exchange of ideas across jurisdictions not only enhances our own legal insights but also ensures the best outcomes for clients.

We have found that success within an international network is not just about seeking referrals, it’s about building trust and forming lasting professional relationships. The work follows naturally when there is a foundation of mutual respect and shared expertise. For firms considering international collaboration, our advice is simple: invest in relationships first. Business will come in time, but the real value lies in the ability to offer clients a truly global reach with trusted, boutique legal experts in every jurisdiction.

A great example of this collaborative approach is our recent partnership with Thomas Paoletti of Paoletti Law Group in the United Arab Emirates. With audience rights in the new ADGM courts in Abu Dhabi – an English law-based arbitration center – Thomas identified an opportunity for us to work together. As Dubai shifts away from DIFC arbitration, the ADGM is emerging as a premier arbitration hub in the Middle East, offering cost-effective and reliable dispute resolution. By combining our expertise, we can provide clients with a robust arbitration solution that aligns with their expectations of common law procedures.

Ultimately, our commitment to international collaboration is what sets Mirkwood Evans Vincent apart. We don’t just offer legal advice, we connect clients to a powerful global network that ensures their interests are protected no matter where they do business. We founded the firm on the principle that law should facilitate opportunity, not create barriers, and through strong global partnerships, we continue to deliver on that promise.
